The Lviv region became the leader in the number of corrupt officials in Ukraine in 2023. The portal reports this The opendatabase.
“Over the past three years, the Lviv region has become the leader in the number of sentences passed. The number of records since the beginning of the great war has decreased: if in 2021 there were 537, then last year there were only 192.”, - the message says.
Next in the ranking are Kiev (188), Odessa (181), Dnepropetrovsk (176) and Vinnytsia (169) regions.
In total, 2023 people were included in the Register of Corrupt Officials in 2420. This is 65% less than in pre-war 2021. Then the list was expanded by almost 7 thousand entries.
Opendatabot notes that in 2021, people were mainly included in the Register of Corrupt Officials due to violations related to declarations - 75,9% of sentences. Already in 2023, the share of such cases decreased to 1,6%. This is due to the fact that since the beginning of the full-scale war, the NAPC has not checked the declarations of officials, and the submission of declarations itself has not been mandatory.
In 2022-2023, most people were put on the register for offering or promising undue benefits for actions or inactions in government - 38,2% and 53,1% of cases, respectively.
Most often, criminals are sentenced to fines - 92% of sentences. Imprisonment and community service or probation total about 5-8% of punishments.
